Low cost assistive technology (often called low cost AT) is equipment valued under $1,500 that helps with independence, safety or daily living. It's typically claimed through your Consumables or Assistive Technology budget, depending on your plan.
Can Buzzy help with sensory sensitivities for children with ADHD or autism?
Buzzy is a TGA-accepted device developed for pain relief during needle procedures. Many families also use it to help manage sensory overwhelm during things like haircuts, nail clipping and other procedures that can feel distressing for kids who experience sensory sensitivity, using the same vibration and cold combination as a distraction tool. Is the Moose Noose Safety Harness NDIS eligible?
The Moose Noose Safety Harness can be claimed as low cost assistive technology when it supports a participant's safety and independence, for example for children who are flight risks or need extra support in public settings. This is a common need for children with autism, read more in our guide on why children with autism run off without warning. Confirm with your plan manager whether it fits your specific plan.
How do I order using my NDIS funding?
Same process as our continence range. If you're self-managed, request your NDIS invoice and include your NDIS number, we'll issue an invoice for reimbursement. If you're plan-managed, include your plan manager's details on the same form and we'll invoice them directly.
